Sometimes I just don’t feel like busting out my big ol’ DSLR camera. I love it and all but it’s not the easiest thing to tote around or pull out in the spur of the moment. So this weekend I took a break from snapping pictures with my Nikon and used my trusty iPhone. Here’s a look at our marvelous weekend through my phone!
Friday I got two Marvelous surprises in the mail,
A $20 Nordstrom Note which is always Marvelous and Sarah Fragosa’s new Everyday Paleo Italian Cuisine Cookbook. Okay so I was expecting the cookbook but it was marvelous it arrived before the weekend so I could include some of her meals in this weeks meal plan!
Since we hadn’t been out anywhere except the gym and for a run since Wednesday, we decided to eat out for dinner at our favorite Sushi restaurant.
The Love Nugget loves to got to restaurants and is usually pretty good. Knocking on wood as I type He enjoyed his first sushi roll (tofu wrap with avocado, cucumber and rice), using his kid friendly chopsticks. He actually did pretty good! We shared a plate of the crispy calamari then I had a cucumber roll with tuna, avocado and salmon. So fresh and yummy!
Saturday I woke up and headed to the gym for boot camp. I’ve haven’t been on a Saturday for a few weeks so it was great to be back. I pushed it pretty hard and sweat a ton so I rehydrated with a coconut water when I got home. Well, tried to. The Love Nugget enjoyed quite a bit himself.
We got a few things done around the house then headed to Whole Foods for lunch. They just happened to be having an ice cream social party so we got to enjoy a yummy sample after lunch. I tried the Turtle Coconut So Delicious with toasted coconut on top. Yum!
After lunch we went and looked at more houses. I’ll spare you the details but let’s just say it’s not going all that well
We fed The Love Nugget dinner a little after we got home then put him to bed so we could sit down and enjoy a dinner with just the two of us.
Freakshow Cab, Tomato basil salad with a balsamic reduction (recipe coming) and cedar plank grilled citrus salmon. So good!
Sunday wasn’t as Marvelous as a day as we had hoped it would be. We discussed going to pick blackberries, going to the farmers market or going to the State Fair but The Hubby was awake half the night with an extremely sore back. He decided to fix his truck Saturday morning and hurt it lifting the bed off his truck by himself. Talk about macho man! Anyways, he slept in and woke up very sore so we decided to just go to the farmer’s market and get our grocery shopping done. He was hurting pretty bad so we tried to make it as quick as possible. I came home and got a ton of prep done for the week. Washed our farmer’s market haul, made egg cupcakes, baked sweet potatoes, crock-pot chicken breasts, chopped veggies, boiled eggs, and made protein bars for the hubby.
Both the boys napped for quite sometime so it was nice to have some quite time to just do my thing! When they woke up, unfortunately The Hubby still hurt. After hobbling around he decided to go to Urgent Care. So we drove him there then headed to the park to play. As soon as we got to the park he called for us to come get him because they didn’t take our insurance. Ugh! He was feeling a little better so we went back to the park to play for a bit. The Love Nugget was happy to be out playing Hubby is doing okay and will be going to a doctor tomorrow to see what’s going on. Don’t feel too bad for him as he does these things to himself. He could have easily asked for help but… had to be a macho man! Gosh I sound like a horrible wife but trust me, this is not the first time he’s hurt himself!
Another sort of Marvelous thing is that our Ninja broke Sad face because I’ve been making my smoothies in the food processor but smiley face because I’m getting a Vitamix! Almost bought the one at Costco but wanted to check around first. Now I’m wishing I would have just gotten it as it looks like the best deal. Guess I’ll just have to go back tomorrow!
Marvelous has also been the Kona Kase I received through my ambassadorship with Sweatpink.
I had been seeing other bloggers get their boxes and was anticipating the arrival of mine hoping it would arrive in July. There were a few things in this particular box I was looking forward to trying.
First, Kona Kase is monthly snack package with healthy foods to fuel an active lifestyle. It costs about $15 a month with discounts offered on multi-month packages. Shipping is free and you can cancel anytime.
This months box included several yummy goodies,
Health Warrior Chia Bars – I’ve actually reviewed these before and LOVE them! I was very excited they were included in this months box as I enjoy them but don’t enjoy the high cost for such a small bar.
Caveman Cookies – These are a Paleo treat I’ve been hearing about via Paleo blogs. Of course since I love eating Paleo, I was excited to try them. They are made with very few ingredients, gluten-free, dairy free, naturally sweetened and I thought pretty good! I like healthy foods like this though but for someone who is used to eating Oreos might not find these as tasty
Perky Jerky Turkey – I also had the pleasure of sampling Perky Jerky awhile back and the this particular bag of turkey was my favorite. Needless to say I was happy it was included in my Kona Kase this month!
Pro Bar Organic Chews – Another yummy treat I’ve had the opportunity to try once before. You can read about it here but these are the a great organic energy chew to use when you need that extra kick. Especially during long runs or high endurance activities.
Enjoy Life Seed and Fruit Mix – This was a snack I had been wanting to sample since seeing it on another blog. I try not to overdue it on my nut intake so snacking on seeds is always a good alternative. Add in some cranberries and dark chocolate chips, yum!
Barbara Llewellyn Granola – Umm this stuff was amazing! I opened it to taste a little before giving it to The Love Nugget then had second thoughts. Instead I made myself a smoothie and topped it with the granola. Wow! So good!
Garuka Bars – I haven’t yet had a chance to try this one as it does contain a few more ingredients than I normally like to eat in a bar. It looks delicious so I’ll probably have a taste before letting The Hubby enjoy
Body Glove Surge Gel – this is actually one that I probably won’t end up eating. I’m not a huge energy gel fan but do have some friends who will be thrilled to try it out!
If you want to try Kona Kase for yourself make sure to use the code GIFTSUMMER to get $5 off your first box. That’s means you only pay $10!
Did you get a chance to make a guess on my “Two Truths and a Lie” game?
Hope everyone has a great Monday!
As always, thank you to the lovely Katie at Healthy Diva Life for hosting another Marvelous MIMM!
